UPDATE5: Czech Republic permits flights until Sunday

MOSCOW/YEKATERINBURG/PRAGUE, Jul 2 (PRIME) -- The Czech Republic allowed some Russian airlines, whose permits were withdrawn, to fly until Sunday, the transport ministry said on Tuesday.

“In the morning of July 2, 2019, the Russian Transport Ministry issued a flight permit to Czech Airlines until July 7, 2019,” it said in a statement.

“After that the transport ministry of the Czech Republic launched a response procedure for the Russian carriers. Flights will also be permitted until July 7, 2019.”

Russia’s flagship airline Aeroflot said it will carry all flights on the Moscow–Prague–Moscow route on Wednesday.

“In accordance with the decision of the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation and the Czech Republic on a temporary permit to resume flights between the countries, Aeroflot will carry all flights on the Moscow–Prague–Moscow route on July 3 (Wednesday),” the company said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Aeroflot cancelled some flights to Prague and Ural Airlines suspended the flights after the Czech Republic annulled the flight permits.

A source with knowledge of the situation told PRIME that the restriction on flight permits was imposed as Russia and the Czech Republic had failed to agree on flights between Prague and Seoul by Czech Airlines across Siberia.
